Pakistan team's hotel attacked by drones amidst US-Iran war: Report
The Pakistan, who have been disqualified from the Men's T20 World Cup 2026 after their small-margin of victory against Sri Lanka, has seen one of their teams being attacked by drones amidst the US-Iran war situation.

Recently, Pakistan failed to qualify for the semifinals of the Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 after a narrow margin of victory against Sri Lanka at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy. They needed a massive win to get past the net run rate of New Zealand, who earned a massive win over the co-hosts at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
But the shocking news is that their Shaheens side has been attacked. The team was featuring in the ODI and T20I series against the England Lions in Abu Dhbai, which was later postponed due to the current war situation between Iran and United States of America (USA).

Meanwhile, the England Cricket Board (ECB) used all of its resources to get its team back in the country. But the same operation hasn’t been worked by the Pakistan Cricket Board, as their Shaheen side, who, reportedly, are stuck in a hotel close to which the drones have hit. The team has taken shelter in the basement, as many have brought the news to the attention of their Prime Minister.

Recently, the board fined US $18000, nearly all of the squad members of the Pakistan side, for their underwhelming campaign as they were eliminated. They missed out on the semifinals for the fourth successive time in an ICC men’s event, which is the first such instance in their history of the game.
The fines are not imposed due to disciplinary reasons, as many have claimed. They were put immediately after their match against India in the group stage in Colombo, as the result showed the fragile batting and approach of the side for their massive defeat. They were told that fines may have been waived had they made the semifinals of the event.
The PCB has come down hard on the players in the past, but the sanctions were mostly framed as disciplinary. The current board administration does have the form for imposing the punishments in the wake of disappointments at the major events.
