The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), reportedly, has seized the players’ mobile phones in London ahead of the third Test against England, which is scheduled to take place on September 09 at Edgbaston in Birmingham. The investigations remain ongoing as the phones of the senior players have been kept in custody.   

Pakistan arrived in the United Kingdom after their drawn two-match Test series against West Indies, where they won the second encounter at the Port of Spain in Trinidad. But they ended up losing both the first two Tests against England and find themselves at the bottom of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025/27 points table.

The Pakistan board has reportedly taken the mobile phones of some senior players into custody in London while the investigations remain active. They have taken the phones of some of the selected players during the side’s ongoing stay in London.

The reports and the speculations in the media have linked this entire situation to potential off-field matters, though the details are yet to be confirmed and are still emerging slowly. No formal press release explaining the exact reasons behind the seizure has been released by the board.

The experts and analysts have noted that under the protocols, the player's electronics are only taken into the official board's custody if integrity or corruption issues are being investigated.

The country has been trending in the news for the last week after the injury of Imam-ul-Haq, the opening batter of the side, who didn’t bat in both innings of the second encounter at Lord’s. Many reckoned that he faked the injury to be out of action.

In the opening Test of the series, at Leeds, Pakistan lost the contest by an innings and 103 runs inside the three days. They were bundled out for scores of under 200 in both innings of the game, with Abdullah Shafique celebrating the only fifty of the batting department.

In the second Test at Lord’s, they were defeated by 194 runs. In their first innings with the bat, they were blown away for 110 runs. Meanwhile, in the second innings, they were bundled out for 194 runs, with Saud Shakeel falling short of a century.

After the second Test, the PCB replaced seven players from the squad of the first two games, including Saim Ayub, Abdullah Fazal, Arafat Minhas, Mohammad Imran Jr, Saad Baig, Mohammad Randhawa, and Razaullah. They sent back Mohammad Rizwan, Salman Ali Agha, and Imam home, and brought in Mike Hesson as the interim head coach, replacing Sarfaraz Ahmed.
