Heading into the 217-run chase for the Rajasthan Royals (RR) during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 clash, the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) had the only job of denting the opening pair of the visitors between Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, especially the latter, who had been in his dream position in the campaign. 

Sunrisers captain, Ishan Kishan, mentioned that Praful Hinge would have made his debut in the previous contest against the Punjab Kings, but while selecting the impact player, they went with veteran Jaydev Unadkat. That perhaps gave an extra motivation to Hinge to showcase his talent.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi dismissed for golden duck vs SRH

The first delivery of the chase for RR was a short ball angled into Yashasvi Jaiswal, who opened the face of his bat and glided it down to the third man region for a single. But the question was what plan would the home side have against Vaibhav Sooryavanshi? 

Hinge went for the short ball at the left-handed batter. And the channel of the ball was at his head. The hard length delivery rushed the 15-year-old, who wanted to go hard on the pull but took his eyes off the delivery while connecting. That led the ball to take the sticker of the bat and go straight up in the air.

Salil Arora, who was doing the wicket-keeping job for this contest in place of Kishan, came forward to grab a simple catch and sent back the southpaw for a golden duck. The celebration from the SRH camp outlined the story of the delivery as the batter looked at the heavens and walked off disappointed.

SRH stun RR with 9/5 in 217-run chase

Praful Hinge didn’t stop after Sooryavanshi’s wicket and sent back inform Dhruv Jurel for a second-ball duck. It was a length delivery as Jurel made the mistake of playing with the angled bat with the outside edge breaking his stumps. Debutant Lhuan de Pretorious flicked the ball from his legs to find the fielder.

Another debutant, Sakib Hussain, from the other end, used the short ball plan to dismiss Jaiswal for one run in five balls. Hinge came back in the third over with another wicket to restrict the visitors to 9/5.
