India have officially qualified for the semi-finals in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 after defeating West Indies by five wickets. The hosts made a record-chase today to seal a spot in the knockouts, thanks to Sanju Samson's unbeaten 97-run knock in the game. The contest was thrilling as the match went to the last over.

India were chasing 196 runs in the second innings. They lost Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan early on, but Samson stayed throughout the game to help the team qualify for the next stage. It was an important game, and a match-winning knock will now be remembered forever. Samson hit 12 boundaries and four sixes in the game and batted at a strike rate of 194.

He got the support from Tilak Varma and Hardik Pandya for a brief period of time, as both players were dismissed even before scoring 30 runs. After Pandya was dismissed in the 19th over, Shivam Dube came in and slammed a boundary on the first ball, taking the pressure off India.

It was an incredible day for the fans as they enjoyed the team's victory. This win was more of a revenge for the T20 World Cup back in 2016, where West Indies snatched India's dream in the semi-finals. The entire team's collective performance helped them win the game and book a berth in the knockout matches.
