'Proud Moment for the Nation' – GoI reacts to India’s T20 World Cup 2026 win

The Government of India (GoI) has reacted to the five titles that the Indian team has won in men's cricket including the two T20 World Cup 2026, The Champions Trophy 2025, and the Asia Cup.

The Government of India (GoI) has put up a video to celebrate India’s five titles in the last couple of years. It started with the blue brigade winning the T20 World Cup 2024 against South Africa in the final under the leadership of Rohit Sharma in Barbados, as they continued the same dominance at the start of 2025 in claiming the Champions Trophy, beating New Zealand in the final.

Post that, India beat their arch-rivals Pakistan to win the Asia Cup 2025, as it brought excitement and joy among the home fans regarding the shortest format of the game. The U-19 Indian side, under the captaincy of Ayush Mhatre, won the title in Harare by beating the England side. And finally, the Suryakumar Yadav-led side blew away the Kiwis to win the recent T20 World Cup 2026.

GoI celebrates India’s T20 World Cup 2026

In celebration of India’s successful defense, the BCCI has announced a cash reward of INR 131 crore for the squad as the board has addressed in a statement-The Board congratulates the players, support staff and selectors once again on this historic achievement and wishes them continued success in the future.’

India won the T20 WC for a record third time, by overtaking both West Indies (2012 and 2016) and England (2010 and 2022) for the two editions. India is the first team to win successive Men’s T20 WCs, as no defending champion had made it to the final previously.

India smashed New Zealand by 96 runs in the final at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad by posting 255 runs for the loss of five wickets on the back of half-centuries from the top three, Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson, and Ishan Kishan, as Jasprit Bumrah fired 4/15 in four overs.
