After some dramas, the Pakistan Super League 2026 (PSL 2026) has finally started on Thursday evening (March 26). Before the beginning of the new season, PSL CEO Salman Naseer took the oath from all eight captains of the tournament.

In the video, PSL CEO said, "Dearly beloved captains of HBL PSL, we stand here today as the custodians of a legacy 10 years in the making. In this, the 11th season of HBL PSL, do you as captains pledge to play with the passion and intensity our fans deserve, to lead with integrity and uphold the highest standards of the game, to fight hard on the field but remain brothers of it, for the badge on your chest, the millions of passionate fans and the pride of HBL PSL, to play the game in its truest spirit."

Marnus Labuschagne, the captain of Hyderabad Kingsmen, started to take the oath, while the other skippers of the season, Mohammad Rizwan (Rawalpindiz), David Warner (Karachi Kings), Ashton Turner (Multan Sultans), Shaheen Shah Afridi (Lahore Qalandars), Babar Azam (Peshawar Zalmi), Shadab Khan (Islamabad United), and Saud Shakil (Quetta Gladiators) joined the oath ceremony. The oath ceremony ended with Salman's quote, "Let the new era begin."

Why is PSL 2026 special for Pakistan?

PSL 2026 is the 11th season of the tournament. Starting the tournament with five teams, it was expanded to six teams for the first time in the third season, which continued till the last edition. The PSL 2026 is the new beginning with eight teams, including two new franchises (Rawalpindiz and Hyderabad Kingsmen), along with another rebranding with new owners (Multan Sultans).

Despite wishing for a new glory beginning after completing its first decade, the PSL 2026 has already suffered some major blows, including no spectators, players' withdrawal, etc.

PSL CEO confirms legal action against every overseas player who ditched PSL 2026

According to media reports, PSL CEO Salman Naseer has confirmed that PSL will take legal action against the overseas players who have ditched PSL 2026 for the IPL 2026. While South African cricketer Corbin Bosch did it in the last season, Zimbabwean Blessing Muzarabani, Sri Lankan Dasun Shanaka, and Australian Spencer Johnson have left the PSL 2026 for IPL 2026.

How do fans react to PSL 2026 oath ceremony?

Many fans have negative reactions to the PSL 2026 oath ceremony, as there is hardly anyone to impress with the video. Some have even joked about it, while others questioned it.
