Why Raksha Bandhan is Celebrated
The festival of Raksha Bandhan is celebrated on the full moon day of the Shravan month. It is a festival of love and protection between brothers and sisters. According to mythology, it dates back to the Dwapar era, with its first story linked to Lord Krishna and his sister Subhadra. On this day, sisters tie a Rakhi on their brothers’ right wrist, praying for their long life and well-being. In return, brothers promise to protect their sisters and often give them gifts.
