WATCH: Rashid Khan's outstanding catch near boundary line during AFG vs BAN 1st ODI

Rashid Khan took a beautiful running catch near the boundary rope during the Afghanistan vs Bangladesh (AFG vs BAN) 1st ODI match. After the heartbreaking T20I bilateral series against Bangladesh, Afghanistan is now searching for a win in the ongoing 3-match ODI series. 

The Afghanistan cricket team has recently suffered back-to-back setbacks—first during the Asia Cup 2025 and then a whitewash against Bangladesh. The ongoing ODI series has become a prestige fight for the team. The Afghanistan vs. Bangladesh ODI series has startedtoday (October 8, 2025) at the Zayed Cricket Stadium in the United Arab Emirates. 

AFG vs BAN 1st ODI, 1st Innings: 

Bangladesh won the toss and decided to bat first. They sustained a tumbling start as they lost a couple of wickets early. After sustaining the early blows, at the moment when they were about to set on track with Saif Hassan and Tawhid Hridoy, Afghanistan struck again with the help of Rashid Khan. To clinch the wicket of well-set opener Saif Hassan, Khan took a wonderful catch.

Rashid Khan took a crucial catch: 

When Bangladesh was batting for 53, Saif decided to take the aerial route against Afghanistan spinner Nangeyalia Kharote. The right-handed batter tried to hit the ball over extra cover. He got the elevation but not the distance, as the distance between the ball and the batter was too much. 

The ball went high into the air; Rashid, with his eyes fixed on the ball, covered a good amount of ground to take a clean catch. He was near the boundary line but well aware of his momentum. Saif departed for 26 off 37, and Bangladesh scored 221 runs against all 10 of their wickets.
