It is now highly believed that Ravindra Jadeja's time with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) is about to be over. According to reports, for Sanju Samson, CSK is all set to release Ravindra Jadeja and Dewald Brevis ahead of IPL 2026 mini auction. 

The moment when the news of Jadeja's probable exit from the Chennai-based franchise broke out, it became one of the most talked about topics among Indian cricket fans. Brevis, the South African batter, who recently wreaked havoc in multiple international matches, has the potential to bolster any IPL team's batting lineup. But what about Jadeja? Why would the Rajasthan Royals need the service of a 36-year-old all-rounder who probably is well over his spring days?

Trading out Sanju Samson will be a big deal for Rajasthan Royals, as he was not only the keeper batter of the team, but also the face and captain of RR in IPL 2025. According to possibilities, if Samson takes an exit from Rajasthan Royals, then Yashasvi Jaiswal or Riyan Parag can be seen as the skipper of the team. After this, there is another theory as the Samson-Jadeja & Brevis trade deal gets more air.

Ravindra Jadeja to become the captain of Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2026?

According to another alternative theory, Jadeja, with all of his experiences, can be the next captain of RR. The spin-bowling all-rounder was with the franchise when they won the IPL title. Rajasthan Royals was the winner of the championship of the inaugural Indian Premier League season (IPL 2007-08). After that, they never won the title again.

Jadeja was with RR for a total of two seasons, then played for multiple franchises. Since 2018, Jadeja has been with Chennai Super Kings. Before that, from IPL 2012 to IPL 2015, it was Jadeja's first stint with CSK. In 2022, Jadeja was appointed CSK captain but handed the captaincy back to Dhoni midway after a poor start to the season.
