When Ravindra Jadeja was released by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, there were several drops of water from the CSK fans as their premier spin all-rounder made his way to his first franchise of the league’s history, the Rajasthan Royals, where he got the nickname, the Rockstar.
And in his very first over of the first innings, Jadeja showed that it was a wrong decision from the yellow franchise to leave the T20 World Cup-winner, whose double-wicket over hurt the middle overs’ power of the five-time champions.
Jadeja sends back Sarfaraz Khan for 17
On the first ball of the eighth over, Jadeja held the line outside the off stump as Sarfaraz Khan, who looked in good form apart from a weak-looking CSK batting line-up, chopped it to the backward point and couldn’t find the single.
On the very next delivery of the over, the right-handed batter went for a massive sweep as the spinner went with the arm delivery that straightened it to hit the arm of the batter before the umpire raised his finger to rule it out. The Mumbai-born took the review but ended up burning it.

It showed that the ball would have crashed into his middle stump as the batter went back to the hut for 17 runs in 12 balls with the help of two fours and one six.
Jadeja dismisses Shivam Dube for 6
Shivam Dube, who is known for showing power against the spinners in the middle overs, got under the first ball in the slot with big eyes and deposited it into the stands over the long-on region as he bent his back leg for a decent 75m six.

But it didn’t last long as Jadeja ended up sending back Dube into the pavilion a few balls later. The southpaw tried the same shot but failed to get the elevation this time and was caught by the long-on fielder for only six runs.
