Recent update on Rinku Singh after he left for hometown ahead of IND vs ZIM Super 8 clash in T20 World Cup 2026
Here’s the latest update on Rinku Singh after he left for his hometown ahead of India’s crucial IND vs ZIM Super 8 clash in the T20 World Cup 2026.

India's star finishing batter Rinku Singh has travelled back to his home amidst the ongoing ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 due to a family medical emergency. The left-handed batter, who is a part of the Indian team, was not seen in the practice session, and neither did he travel to Chennai with the team.
Reports suggest that he has gone back home to see his family since his father's health has been deteriorating. His father is suffering from stage-4 liver cancer and is currently on ventilator support. Moreover, there is no information on his availability for the next match either. His father has been diagnosed with cancer and has been under medications from a year.
The left-handed batter has left the team to be with his family during hard times. With the match in just two days, it's unlikely for him to return for the clash against Zimbabwe. Rinku Singh is an incredible finishing batter and has been an asset for the team in the middle overs. But the ongoing tournament hasn't been good for him.
So far, he has scored just 24 runs in five matches. He is yet to fire up in the tournament, and the Super 8s are the best stage for him to showcase his talent. The fans are anticipating his return ahead of the West Indies match on March 1.
India's qualification scenario for semi-finals in T20 World Cup 2026
The Men in Blue have to win both of their upcoming encounters against Zimbabwe and the West Indies to qualify for the semi-finals. Moreover, the match between South Africa and the West Indies is equally important, with support for the Proteas.
India will also have to keep a check on their NRR in both matches. Currently, they are at -3.80 while South Africa and the West Indies are at +3.80 and +5.35, respectively. Only the top two teams will qualify for the final,s and with a negative NRR, it will be difficult for India to make it to the knockouts. Hence, they'll have to focus on winning along with rectifying their NRR.
