Samajwadi Party MP Priya Saroj, who is engaged to Indian cricketer Rinku Singh, attended the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on Tuesday. Her appearance at the event sparked political discussion in Delhi, Lucknow, and Jaunpur. Speaking at the protest, Priya Saroj said she had joined the demonstration to protect the interests of students and young people.

The protest was organised by the online satirical movement, the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), which is demanding education reforms in India. Led by its founder, Abhijeet Dipke, the group has called for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the alleged NEET paper leak issue.

The protest also featured internationally acclaimed educator and climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, who has been on a hunger strike at Jantar Mantar for the past 17 days. His health has reportedly deteriorated during the protest.

Samajwadi Party MP Priya Saroj visited Jantar Mantar in New Delhi and met social activist and education reformer Sonam Wangchuk, who has been on an indefinite hunger strike since June 28 under the banner of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP). During her visit, Priya Saroj enquired about Wangchuk's health and expressed her support for the ongoing protest.

After meeting Wangchuk, Priya Saroj spent time at the protest site and interacted with other leaders and supporters. The protest, organised by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) under the leadership of founder Abhijeet Dipke, is demanding education reforms and the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the alleged NEET paper leak.

The protesters say Pradhan should take moral responsibility for the alleged paper leak and step down from his post. However, the Union minister has refused to resign. In an interview with several media channels, Pradhan dismissed the CJP and its supporters as the "B-team of disruptive elements" and said they "do not have faith in the country's progress."

Priya Saroj met Sonam Wangchuk at the protest site and enquired about his health before spending time with the protesters. Speaking at the event, the Samajwadi Party MP said, "I haven't come here as an MP; I have come as a representative of the youth and students." She also expressed her support for the movement, adding, "I will raise this issue from the House to the streets."

Criticising the BJP-led government, Priya Saroj urged people to remain united. She said, "They will try to divide us and spread hatred among us. We must continue our struggle with determination." Priya Saroj, who is engaged to Indian cricketer Rinku Singh, received a warm welcome from supporters at the protest.

Reaffirming her support for Sonam Wangchuk's movement, Priya Saroj said, "I have come here today. Whatever programs are planned in the future, we will support them." Earlier, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav had appealed to Wangchuk to end his hunger strike and take care of his health.

Priya Saroj joined the growing list of political leaders backing Sonam Wangchuk's hunger strike and the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protest at Jantar Mantar. Criticising the BJP-led government, she said, "They will try to divide us and spread hatred among us. We must continue our struggle with determination." Priya Saroj, who is engaged to Indian cricketer Rinku Singh, received a warm welcome from supporters at the protest.

Several opposition leaders have also expressed support for Wangchuk's movement. DMK MP Kanimozhi urged him to end his hunger strike, saying the country needs his voice while calling for accountability over the alleged NEET paper leak. Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray also appealed to Wangchuk to end his fast and backed the proposed CJP march to Parliament on July 20, urging other opposition leaders to support the movement.

Meanwhile, there is good news for Rinku Singh's fans in Bihar. The Bihar Cricket Association has secured the hosting rights for eight BCCI domestic matches in the 2026-27 season, with seven games scheduled at the Rajgir International Cricket Stadium. Rinku Singh is among the players expected to feature in the tournament, giving local cricket fans a chance to watch him in action on home soil.
