Rishabh Pant, leading the Rest of India (ROI) during the Irani Cup 2026, didn’t have a great time with the bat as he was dismissed for just 10 runs against the Jammu and Kashmir at the Sher-i-Kashmir Stadium, Srinagar. His poor knock didn’t help his side, who were bundled out before the end of the opening day.
Pant didn’t win the toss and was put into bat first on surface, which looked full of green grass as the pacers were expected to enjoy their time if they bowl full-length deliveries. Before the Ranji Trophy 2026/27 and the upcoming New Zealand trip for the Indian side, it was a vital clash for Pant.
Pant falls for 10 as J&K strike again in Srinagar
Pant walked into the middle in the second session and opened his account on the very second ball as he opened the bat face and dabbed the 128-kph delivery into the deep backward point region. He decided to bring a new tactic by coming out to his crease to counter the swing and seam movement.

On the very first ball of the 39th over of the innings, the left-handed batter leaned across to get close to the pitch of the full delivery to blaze the drive through the cover region for a fine boundary. But it didn’t last long as he was dismissed soon.
In the 46th over of the innings, Pant tried to go for a few glorious-looking risky shot. And he perished in the same over for 10 runs. The Rest of India captain stepped out of his crease and moved leg-side in the process to try and smash one through the covers. He managed to convert it into the half-volley and sliced it to short cover-point.
