Watch: Rishabh Pant's unfortunate run out hurts Lucknow in LSG vs DC IPL 2026 clash
While opening the batting in his first game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, Lucknow Super Giants' Rishabh Pant faced an unfortunate run-out dismissal against Delhi Capitals to be back in the hut.

There was a massive excitement when the captain of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Rishabh Pant, walked out into the middle as the opener during their opening encounter of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 against the Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.
In the previous season of the league, Rishabh Pant struggled badly in the middle order for most of the event before signing off with an incredible century against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at home, and he perhaps has come with a statement to make, having been out of the Indian T20I set-up.
Rishabh Pant dissapointed by his unfortunate run-out
Pant started with a fine boundary straight down the ground beside the pacer, Mukhesh Kumar, but he struggled later on in the innings, scoring seven runs off nine deliveries. However, he didn’t expect to end his knock in an unlucky fashion.

On the final delivery of the third over, it was a pitched-up delivery from Mukhesh as Mitchell Marsh punched it back to the bowler. It came at a good height and to the bowler’s right, he put out his hand across on the catch, got a fingertip, and the ball crashed into the stumps at the other end.
Pant was backing up a long way and had no chance to get back in his crease. He didn’t even wait for the third umpire’s decision and made his way back to the pavilion. It was a massive blow for the Super Giants.
Lucknow makes poor start in IPL 2026 campaign
Marsh was the only batter who spent some time in the middle for his 35 runs in 28 balls with the help of two fours and three sixes, while none of the other batters could cross the 20-run mark in the scorecard. Axar Patel has been excellent with his figures of 1/17 in three overs, while Mukesh was the silent killer with 0/17 in three overs.

Kuldeep Yadav picked up the vital wickets of Mukul Choudhury and Marsh, while Lungi Ngidi’s superb slower delivery got the better of Nicholas Pooran for eight runs at a run-a-ball. Lucknow found themselves in a challenge of playing the entire 20 overs.
Brief Scores: LSG 141 (Abdul Samad 36, Lungi Ngidi 3/27) vs DC.
