The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) provided an update about the injured vice captain Rishabh Pant. Confirming the injury of Pant, the board informed that the wicketkeeping job will be done by Dhruv Jurel, the backup keeper in the squad. For the rest of the ongoing game at Old Trafford, Manchester, Rishabh will not take position behind the stumps with the gloves.

BCCI, in the same social media post, further informed that the southpaw has joined the team despite sustaining an injury on his right foot and can step into the field for batting duties as per team requirements.

"Rishabh Pant, who sustained an injury to his right foot on Day 1 of the Manchester Test, will not be performing wicket-keeping duties for the remainder of the match. Dhruv Jurel will assume the role of wicket-keeper. Despite his injury, Rishabh Pant has joined the team on Day 2 and will be available to bat as per team requirements," BCCI informed through a social media post.

He just recovered from in injury

Rishabh Pant, on Day 1 of the ongoing Test match at Old Trafford, came to bat and started to play with his familiar batting style. He played some unorthodox shots before deciding to go more adventurous against England pacer Chris Woakes. The delivery from Woakes landed on Pant's right foot and left the left-handed batter in pain. Later, he was driven away from the field.

In the previous match too, the keeper batter received an injury. Then he injured his finger while trying to stop a delivery from Jasprit Bumrah. In that match at Lord's, Pant had to leave the field, and Jurel came to replace him for the keeping work. Rishabh batted in the second innings but was in clear discomfort. After recovering from the finger injury, he came to participate in the 4th game of the series.
