Rohit Sharma scored a brilliant century in the second ODI against West Indies in Guwahati. Chasing a target of 406 runs, Rohit reached his 35th ODI hundred in 72 balls, hitting 10 fours and six sixes. Earlier, Shubman Gill also smashed a century in 62 balls, with 10 fours and five sixes.

Rohit’s century came after India were given a huge target of 406 runs by West Indies. India’s highest successful ODI chase is 360 runs, making this only the second time the team has faced a target of more than 400 runs. In 2015, India lost by 214 runs while chasing 439 against South Africa.

Before reaching his century, Rohit also completed 12,000 ODI runs. He became the third Indian after Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli, and the seventh batter overall, to achieve the milestone. Rohit reached 12,000 runs in 12,973 balls, making him the second-fastest batter to the landmark after Virat Kohli, who reached it in 12,853 balls.
