Last Saturday and Sunday before the beginning of the IPL 2026, Mumbai Indians have a fan meet at "The MIX" event, where cricket meets music, fashion, food, and fan expression; all under one roof.

What Rohit Sharma said about MI’s IPL 2026 goals

Present MI captain Hardik Pandya and another MI star Suryakumar Yadav, the T20 World Cup-winning Indian captain, had the mic to interact with the fans. While the fans were demanding to hear from the five-time IPL-winning captain Rohit Sharma, under whom MI won a total of six trophies, including one Champions League T20, SKY asked the former MI captain to join the conversation.

After holding the mic, the former Indian captain, under whom India won the T20 World Cup 2024 and ICC Champions Trophy 2025, Rohit Sharma thanked the entire MI fans for their support, and promised to try their best to lift the IPL trophy for the record sixth time.

Rohit said, "Mumbaikar, pure team ki taraf se, main thankyou bol na chahunga ki app log sab idhar aye. Har saal ki tarah hamare team ko support karte rahiye, hume achcha lagta hain. Hum bilkul koshish karenge ki isbar no. 6 (Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya) apke paas lake rakhein. [Mumbaikars, on behalf of the entire team, I'd like to thank you all for coming here. As always, keep supporting our team; we appreciate it. We'll try our best to keep No. 6 (Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya) with you this time.]"

Can Mumbai Indians win their 6th IPL title this season?

The Mumbai Indians last won the IPL trophy in the 2020 season. In the last five IPL seasons, MI reached the Playoffs twice but failed to reach the Final once.

Last IPL season, Hardik Pandya-led MI finished fourth position in the final points table to advance to the Playoffs. MI reached Qualifier 2, where they suffered a defeat against the Punjab Kings by five wickets (six balls remaining) in a high-scoring encounter.

The franchise has further added some crucial names, including Quinton de Kock, Shardul Thakur, Sherfane Rutherford, etc.

Fans react to Rohit Sharma’s bold promise

At the "The MIX" event, we can clearly hear that the fans were demanding that Rohit Sharma return to the leadership role for the franchise. Fans still passionately love the leader who put MI on record as the most successful team status, as they were the first team to win the IPL title for the fifth time, before Chennai Super Kings (CSK) equalled it in the 2023 edition.
