Hours for a match, ages for a relationship. Despite sharing different franchises, IPL players and staff are maintaining strong correlations between each other. For example, we can take Mumbai Indians' (MI) Rohit Sharma and Rajasthan Royals' (RR) Shane Bond, divided by franchises, united by mutual respect.
In match 50 of IPL 2025, Mumbai Indians faced off against Rajasthan Royals, where MI was far better than the home team. The former champion side batters were top of their game in the match, scoring 217 for only a couple of wickets. Royals scored only 117 in 16.1 overs in reply; MI won the match by 100 runs.
Shane Bond has been in charge of RR as their assistant coach since 2023. Winning or losing are all part of the game. Bond ended as a member of the losing side against the Mumbai Indians. But, as soon as the match was over, the rivalry was gone. After a while, when Sawai Mansingh Stadium was almost empty, Bond spotted Rohit Sharma.

Sharma was talking with the former New Zealand pacer's son through a video call on the field. Sharma sent one of his bats, with his autograph, to the junior Bond. When Rohit was engaged in the video call, the camera was rolling and caught the moment with detailed sound.

"I just gave my bat to the old man right here (pointed his fingers towards 49-years-old Bond, who was holding the phone). Make sure he doesn't use it; you use it. And smack it," the video call concluded with a wild laugh from Shane Bond.
