The 'unreal' thing is finally going to take place at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, today (May 16) at 4 pm. The moment for which Indian cricket fans and especially Rohit Sharma have been waiting for an extended period of time.
A stand of Wankhede Stadium is set to be named after Rohit Sharma. It is the home ground of Sharma, where he grew as a cricketer and nourished his dream when he was a cricket aspirant like many other young talents.
As India is a cricket-crazy nation, many young boys are living with the dream to be a star in the blue jersey in the future; only a few can find that in real life. The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) decided to name a stand of the stadium after Rohit Sharma for his immense contribution to the game as a cricketer and as a captain as well.

The decision came after the MCA's 86th Annual General Meeting on April 15. According to the original schedule, the inauguration of the Rohit Sharma Stand at the iconic Wankhede Stadium was set for May 13. But the rising tension between India and Pakistan forced the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to suspend IPL 2025 temporarily.
For that reason, the ceremony, which was about to happen on May 13, did not take place and was rescheduled for May 16, 2025, at 4 pm. Cricket fans are curious to know if there will be any live streaming or not. As for now, there is no information about live streaming for the ceremony.
"You get these kinds of honors, having a stand named after you… It's something that I cannot imagine," Rohit said during a recent event.
