Mumbai Indians have been going through a tough time following three losses on the trot, and things have gone from bad to worse for them as well. Amid this, the newly-appointed captain Hardik Pandya faced backlash from the fans. And, there have been whispers that former MI captain Rohit Sharma could be up for sale at the upcoming mega auction before IPL 2025.

Rohit Sharma led Mumbai Indians to 5 IPL trophies

A report on News24 suggested that Rohit Sharma is ‘unhappy’ with how he has been treated in the Mumbai Indians captaincy saga. The report also gave the hint that the dressing-room environment is not good. The development has been confirmed to News 24 by a player of the franchise as well.

Considering his experience at the IPL, he could shatter many records if he enters the auction as well. However, the Mumbai Indians have played three matches so far and lost all three as well. There are also whispers that Rohit Sharma could be handed over captaincy mid-season if their poor run continues as well.

Meanwhile, the Rajasthan Royals defeated Mumbai Indians by six wickets to register their third consecutive win in the IPL 2024 on Monday.

After the defeat, Hardik Pandya, the Mumbai Indians Captain said: “Yes, a tough night, we didn’t start the way we wanted to start. I wanted to counter, we were in a decent position to get us around 150-160, but my wicket allowed them to get back more into the game, I needed to do a lot more. It’s okay, we didn’t expect such a surface, but you can’t always have it as a batter, it’s nice at times for the bowlers to have a say. It’s all about doing the right things, (correct) results happen at times, at some other times it doesn’t. As a group, we believe we can do a lot better, but we need to be a bit more disciplined and show a lot more courage.”

Suryakumar Yadav to join the team soon

Meanwhile, the star player of the franchise Suryakumar Yadav has been declared fit and he is likely to feature in Mumbai Indians’ next IPL game against Delhi Capitals at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday as well.

“He is fit now. The NCA made him play a few practice games and he looked good. He can join the Mumbai Indians team. We wanted to be sure that when Surya goes back to MI, he is 100 percent fit and ready to play games. He wasn’t feeling 100% during his first fitness Test before the IPL, so we waited to see if there was any pain while he was batting,” a source in the BCCI confirmed, adding that he had to undergo three fitness tests as well.
