Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli recently featured during the three-match ODI series against the West Indies, which they went on to win by a 2-1 margin. It was the start of the blue brigade’s preparation for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2027 in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia, whose main competition begins on October 07.
Virat Kohli and Rohit were recently part of an engaging collaboration where they spoke about their aim and plans for the upcoming 50-over ICC event. That will be the last tournament for both the players, who are very likely to bid adieu to international cricket.

Rohit and Kohli were seen to be spending a quality time with each other and spoke about their dream to be part of the World Cup. Under the former’s leadership, they reached the final of the previous edition at home with an unbeaten campaign before losing the final against Australia at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

“Bro, how many years has it been since we started playing together for India?” wondered Rohit, to which Kohli replied, “But the same excitement and satisfaction is still there. Our players are also very excited for this World Cup.”

The Nagpur-born revealed that KL Rahul has remained another Indian player who has been incredibly excited for the World Cup, having played in 2019 and 2023. Kohli, on the other hand, took the names of Shubman Gill and Ravindra Jadeja.
“It’s such a big year. We’re talking about the World Cup.” The Delhi-born addressed the crowd, while Rohit concluded with, “This time, it’s about our country. It’s going to be fun!”

He continued the superb form with another century at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati during the second ODI. He finished the West Indies series with 225 runs at 75.
Meanwhile, that has been the same case with Kohli, who smashed two successive fifties during the England series before thumping a superb knock of unbeaten 139 runs off just 88 balls against the Shai Hope-led side in Thiruvananthapuram. However, in the third game, he was dismissed for a golden duck.

In 2026, Rohit is the second-leading run-scorer in ODIs with 604 runs in 12 innings at an average of 50.33, with two centuries and as many fifties. On the other hand, Kohli is fourth on the list with 552 runs in nine innings at 69 with three fifties and two centuries.
