India and the West Indies are playing a very important match in the Super 8 stage of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 at Eden Gardens. It is almost like a knockout game. The team that wins will reach the semi-finals, while the team that loses will be out of the tournament.
West Indies started their innings in an aggressive way. Their batters attacked the Indian pacers from the very beginning. Captain Shai Hope and Roston Chase built a strong partnership. Hope played calmly and focused on rotating the strike. Chase played attacking shots and punished any loose ball. Because of their stand, the Indian bowlers did not get early success.
The match also saw a special moment when Chase played a brilliant scoop shot off Jasprit Bumrah. He moved across the stumps and lifted the ball over the infield for a boundary. The shot surprised the crowd and showed his confidence against one of India’s best bowlers.

Bumrah’s Twin Strikes Shift the Momentum
The daring scoop shot came at an important stage of the innings when West Indies were trying to attack India’s disciplined bowling unit. However, Roston Chase read the length early and executed the scoop perfectly, turning pressure into momentum within seconds.

Later, Bumrah brought India back into the game with two big wickets in the 12th over. He first dismissed Shimron Hetmyer, getting him out for the sixth time in 10 T20 innings. In the same over, Chase also lost his wicket as he mistimed a defensive shot and lobbed it to Suryakumar Yadav at cover. Chase scored a quick 40 runs from 20 balls.
