A memorable day for Ruturaj Gaikwad. He waited for the moment for a long time—a hundred for Team India. Gaikwad scored 105 runs against South Africa during the India vs South Africa 2nd ODI (IND vs SA 2nd ODI) at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Raipur. South Africa somehow got rid of the in-form batter.

During the initial stage of the match, Cricket was not at her best. Bowlers were struggling to maintain the right line and length, and batters were putting their efforts into finding the sweet spot of the bat against the pacers of South Africa. The dismissals of Rohit Sharma and Ruturaj Gaikwad turned into a blessing in disguise for the Men in Blue, as Virat Kohli and Ruturaj Gaikwad registered a century each, which helped the team to put a total over 350 on the scoreboard batting first.

Kohli was about to settle down on the track when Gaikwad walked into the middle. After a little conversation with the batting maestro, Gaikwad went off to a start with a boundary. Though the boundary was not in the finest form. Marco Jansen's well-guided bouncer surprised Gaikwad. The batter somehow got a touch, and the ball travelled all the way to the boundary rope.

The start of Gaikwad's innings was perhaps not in an idle way. But as the time progressed, the middle-order batter showed his true class. Without playing any rash shots, the Maharashtra-born completed his ODI hundred. He got 105 runs against 83 deliveries with 12 boundaries and a couple of over-boundaries.

After achieving the hundred-run mark, Gaikwad decided to shift his gears to another level. When he was batting on 105 runs, the batter tried to clear the rope with the pull shot. Jansen delivered a waist-height ball to Gaikwad, which he countered with a pull shot. The ball hit slightly on top of the bat and went high into the air but did not get the required momentum to cross the rope. Tony de Zorzi at the deep backward square leg to dismiss a centurion, Ruturaj Gaikwad.
