In a conversation with Vickey Lalwani, Virendra Kambli shared that Sachin Tendulkar frequently calls the family to inquire about Vinod Kambli’s health, showing his concern and ongoing support for his longtime friend during his illness. He said, “ Sachin dada has always supported Vinod. Their friendship is still very strong. Sachin calls and checks on him with Andrea [Hewitt, Vinod’s wife].”

Kambli Returns Home, Continuing His Recovery Journey:

Sachin Tendulkar was Kambli’s closest friend during their early Mumbai cricket days. Tendulkar debuted a few years before Kambli and went on to achieve legendary success, while Kambli, despite immense talent, never fully realized his potential at the international level. Virendra further said, “ He was closest to him. I don’t know about others, but I saw them together when I went to watch Ranji Trophy matches. I would go to the dressing room to eat, and Sachin dada, Vinod, and I would sit together and have fun. We would joke around and have a good time.”
