The young opener Sai Sudharsan, playing for Gujarat Titans (GT), reached a significant achievement on Friday in the IPL 2025 match against SunRisers Hyderabad, which took place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The 23-year-old reached 2,000 T20 runs after he crossed 32 runs in his innings as the second-fastest batter to reach the milestone, with only Shaun Marsh of Australia reaching the milestone in fewer innings. However, Sudharsan's hunger for more, as well as persistently proving himself in conditions across the T20 format, has emerged to show and prove the rapid rise of one of India's most exciting batting prospects in recent years.
The prolific left-hand batter also made history after he surpassed record-breaking batter Sachin Tendulkar to reach 2,000 T20 runs faster than the iconic batter, completing the feat in 54 innings, compared to Tendulkar's 59 innings to reach 2,000 runs. Tendulkar first played his T20 international match in 2006, before reaching the 2,000-run club in 2011. Sudharsan's new achievements add to his growing list of records, as well as his achievements in India's rich cricketing history. In terms of records, Sudharsan has achieved heights that India has never attained through a talent which has only just unlocked longevity into the legendary status that remarkable names bear in a long time - Sudharsan has surpassed long-standing records owned by great members of the fraternity.

The 23-year-old batter emerged last season as the fastest Indian to score 1,000 IPL runs in just 25 innings, breaking the previous joint record that was held by Tendulkar and Ruturaj Gaikwad with 31 innings. He also brought up 1,000 T20 runs in his 32nd inning, which made him the fourth-fastest Indian to do so after Devdutt Padikkal (25), Rohan Kadam (27), and Tendulkar (31). These achievements highlight Sudharsan's rapid rise through T20 cricket, and the combination of his impressive form, versatility, and desire to score runs in the rapidly changing shortest form of the game.
