There is no doubt about how classical shots the former Indian captain and coach, Rahul Dravid, used to play in his prime days around the ground to tire the bowlers. And his son, Samit Dravid, has walked in his father's footsteps, impressing everyone with proper timing during the Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 2026.
Samit Dravid has been featuring for the Kalyani Bengaluru Blasters in the competition and smashed a fine knock of 32 runs during their recent contest against the Hubli Tigers at the KSCA Hubli Cricket Ground, with some of his shots going viral on social media.
The shot that had fans comparing Samit Dravid to his father
The first shot of the viral video was a late cut towards the third man by Samit Dravid as the ball went between two fielders. He took time to see the ball till the last moment and guided it into the vacant place to the boundary rope.

Once the bowler went full and wide of the right-handed batter, he used his full flow, stretching the hands and smashing it over the in-field for a fine boundary as the ball raced away to the fence. It was one of the glorious shots of the afternoon.

Next up was a left-arm pacer, who came with the angle away from Samit, who went into the backfoot and punched the ball over the fielders for a boundary. When the pace cut the length and put it short, junior Dravid was ready on his backfoot and pulled it over mid-wicket for a fine boundary.

In the game, Kalyani Bengaluru Blasters batted first and posted a strong total of 203 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their allotted 20 overs, with the opener, Rohan Patil, smashing an attractive knock of 64 runs off just 36 balls at a strike rate of 177.78. Samit contributed with 32 runs off 23 balls while India's Paveen Dubey drilled 51 runs off 28 balls at a strike rate of 182.14.

Hubli Tigers didn’t get a good start in the chase before Manvanth Kumar played a jaw-dropping knock of 60 runs in just 22 balls at a strike rate of 272.73 with four boundaries and six sixes.
Despite his heroics, Hubli fell short by 2 runs as Nischith N Rao returned with figures of 3/27 in four overs.
