The spin all-rounder of the Pakistan side, Shadab Khan, is renowned for his super fielding performance, and he showed another glimpse of that during the opening T20I of the three-match series against Sri Lanka at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi, as the video went viral on social media platforms.
Sri Lanka’s newly appointed captain, Kusal Mendis, won the toss and decided to bowl first on a surface, despite the anticipation of dew in the second innings. They perhaps thought of putting the pressure of the scorecard on the home side, who are not renowned for their chasing skills.
Shadab Khan pulls off a jaw-dropping catch vs Sri Lanka
It was the very first ball of the eleventh over of the innings. Sahan Arachchige, on one run off his first delivery, cut the short ball from Mohammad Imran Randhawa in the air. It went to the left of Shadab, who was stationed at the backward point region.

The veteran player dived full stretch while reaching out over his left shoulder and grabbed the ball with both hands. It was a superb catch from Shadab, who made sure that the ball wouldn’t come out of his hands, despite him falling on the ground.

It wasn’t the first time that Shadab had taken such flying catches. He is someone whom the captain could keep at any position on the field. However, it wasn’t a great evening with the ball for him as he ended up with 1/33 in his three overs.

Most of the Sri Lanka batters failed to get the starts, while a few of them were not able to convert their starts into big scores, apart from their opener, Lahiru Udana, who smashed a fantastic knock of 91 runs off 55 balls at a strike rate of 165.45 with the help of 11 boundaries and one six.
Sri Lanka, somehow, crossed the 180-run mark and ended up with 182/8 in their allotted 20 overs. Naseem Shah, who picked up three wickets for Pakistan, was their peak of the bowlers, while Randhawa ended up with 2/21 in four overs.
