Shaheen Afridi penalised for breaching hotel security protocols during PSL 2026
The captain and the left-arm pacer of the Lahore Qalandars, Shaheen Afridi, has been penalised a massive money for breaching the hotel security procols during the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026.

The Lahore Qalandars have fined their captain and the veteran left-arm pacer, Shaheen Shah Afridi, PKR 1 million after an incident in which the Punjab police accused him of breaching security protocols at the team hotel during the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026. In a statement, the franchise has revealed that they had imposed the fine on the skipper to maintain discipline and impose accountability.
There will be no action, however, taken against their all-rounder, Sikandar Raza, who was also accused by the police of breaking the rules. The Zimbabwe captain made the comment in the press conference, took responsibility for the incident, and attempted to shift the blame away from Afridi.
What led to Shaheen Afridi’s breach of team hotel rules
Both Shaheen Shah Afridi and Raza were blamed for disregarding the directives and forcefully escorting the four visitors to one of the players, where they stayed for nearly three hours. The request was declined with a letter alleging that Sameen Rana, the owner of the franchise, sought permission from Naseer for the same.

The letter pointed out that the refusals were not heeded, and Afridi and Raza were escorted to the four visitors despite the resistance from the on-duty security personnel, as the protocols were designed to ensure the safety and integrity of the players and the officials.
“In fact, it was my request, as it was my family and friends. In the previous four years, there was never a restriction on meeting my family and relatives. If the SOPs have changes, neither I nor, to an extent, was Shaheen aware of the same.” Sikandar Raza expressed a desire to save Afridi in the press conference.

Qalandars accepted the broader part of the incident, but the statement said it had been overstated in public, and it was unnecessarily escalated.
“While underscoring that the matter arose from a misunderstanding rather than any deliberate attempt to violate established procedures, Lahore Qalandars reiterated its full respect for all security protocols.” The statement was revealed.
“The organization reaffirmed its commitment to strict adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and emphasized the importance of continued clarity and alignment in the communication of protocols to prevent similar situations in the future.” It added.
