Fans and lovers of Indian cricket were looking forward to seeing their favorite players back in action after a few weeks ' break for the Duleep Trophy 2025, which is scheduled to begin on August 04. The event provided a fine platform to track the performances of some players who impressed the selectors during the five-match Test series against England.

However, the excitement soon turned into disappointment as the BCCI declared that the competition would not be streamed or telecast. The premier first-class event of India ranks just below the Ranji Trophy and above the Irani Cup, as during this season, the first quarterfinal saw North face East zone, and Central taking on North-East zone.

The matches welcomed several big names in the Blue brigade as East Zone brought back the premier Indian pacer, Mohammed Shami, from injury with Mukhesh Kumar, while the captain of the Rajasthan Royals, Riyan Parag, is among the key batters. The North zone also had Yash Dhull and Arshdeep Singh, while the other game had Rajat Patidar, Deepak Chahar, and Kuldeep Yadav.

During the last update of the scores, Aryan Jurel and Danish Malewar had celebrated their respective half-centuries in a partnership of over 120 runs as Central Zone found themselves at 131/1 in 35 overs. The solitary wicket went to the left-arm pacer, Akash Choudhary, in the third over of the innings.

For the North Zone, their top three got starts in the batting order. However, none of them were able to convert them to a huge score as both captains, Ankit Kumar and Yash Dhull, crossed the 30-run mark individually. They were 139/1 in their 34 overs, with all wickets going to Manishi.
