Watch: Shikhar Dhawan begins new life with girlfriend Sophie Shine in private ceremony

The former left-handed opening batter of the Indian cricket team, Shikhar Dhawan, has married his long-time girlfriend, Sophie Shine, in a private ceremony on February 21, as the couple had been dating for a few years. Dhawan made the relationship public in May 2025 as the pair were widely expected to marry after the earlier announcement of their engagement on Instagram on January 12.

Shikhar Dhawan and Shine were spotted together during the Champions Trophy 2025 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium to enjoy the games of the Indian side, as they were also seen at the media conclave, where the former opening batter and the captain of the national side hinted that he had found his love once again in life.

Dhawan and his estranged wife, Aesha Mukherjee, got separated officially in October 2023, which brought an end to their 11-year marriage. The former opening batter of the Blue Brigade married Aesha in 2011, and she has two daughters from a previous marriage. Their relationship, on the other hand, broke down after a prolonged period of difficulties.

Dhawan finished his career as one of the prolific run-getters at the opening spot for the international side. The southpaw smashed 6793 runs in 164 innings of the ODI format at an average of 44.11 and a strike rate of 91.35 with the help of 39 half-centuries and 17 centuries at the best score of 143 runs.

In the shortest format, he has nailed 1759 runs in 66 innings at an average of 27.92 and a strike rate of 126.36, thanks to 11 fifties at the best score of 92 runs, while in the longest format, the Delhi batter has recorded 2315 runs in 58 innings at an average of 40.61, thanks to seven centuries and five half-centuries.

The Delhi court, while granting the divorce to Dhawan, saw the batter suffering mental trauma, noting that his former wife kept him away from his only child for several years. He was not granted the permanent custody of Zoravar, after which Dhawan blocked all forms of virtual communication with his son.
