Shivam Dube’s secret train journey exposed: Why India’s World Cup hero traveled 3rd AC in disguise
After India’s World Cup win, Shivam Dube quietly traveled by 3rd AC train in disguise to reach home early, avoiding crowds and reuniting with family.

A few days ago, after India’s historic 2026 T20 World Cup win, all-rounder Shivam Dube did not fly back to Mumbai like many of his teammates. With flights fully booked, he quietly traveled from Ahmedabad to Mumbai in a 3rd AC train with his wife and a friend.
The CSK all rounder has now explained why he left by train early the next morning after India’s T20 World Cup win.
Speaking at an fitness event, He said: “Ghar jaake mujhe apne bachche aur apne papa se milne ki kaafi anxiety ho rahi thi… isliye main subah-subah ghar chala aaya. Wait, hi nahi ho raha thha (I was feeling very anxious to meet my children and my father at home… that’s why I went home early in the morning. I just could not wait.)”

Knowing that traveling as a famous cricketer could attract attention, Shivam Dube tried to stay unnoticed. He took an early morning train from Ahmedabad at 5:10 am, hoping the station would be less crowded, and stayed in his car until just before boarding.
To avoid being recognized, he wore a cap, face mask, and full-sleeved T-shirt, and spent most of the journey resting on the upper berth of his compartment.
Even with these precautions, the star all-rounder was almost recognized when a ticket checker saw his berth and asked, “Shivam Dube? Woh kaun hai, cricketer? (Shivam Dube? Who is he, a cricketer?)”
Quickly, Dube’s wife Anjum Khan replied, “No, no. Woh kahan se aayega? (No, no. Where would he come from?)” and successfully convinced the checker that it was not the cricketer. The situation was handled smoothly without any problems.
