The ongoing IPL 2025 could be about to hit rough seas as concerns grow nationwide about the impact of Operation Sindoor. With certain major cities increasing their levels of alert, the talk of the tournament's future has escalated. Although the tournament is proceeding as planned, officials and the media are asking if the situation will escalate and force the BCCI to suspend or cancel the remaining matches in the tournament.

On May 7, a statement via a BCCI source published by ANI/Vipul Kashyap stated that the IPL would continue on schedule for now. In fact, the update suggested officials had stated they would continue to monitor the situation, and therefore, all future decisions would be made as the situation unfolded. This was good news for fans and franchises alike, but it was equally clear that nothing would stop an abrupt change if things got worse.

So for now, despite everything, teams are going about their preparations, broadcasters are on track, and stadiums are preparing to accept fans, while the BCCI is working with local authorities in the host cities to ensure matches continue with the highest levels of safety and security.

Operation Sindoor seemingly involves large-scale mobilization and heightened national security processes, and Operation Sindoor is already affecting large public events and organized travel to certain destinations. With IPL matches getting large crowds and significant coordination, organizers are in logistical challenges beyond cricket to arrange matters. Security plans for stadiums, informal protocols for teams and players at hotels, and travel plans between cities for teams will all be examined for safety planning in support of participants and spectators, encouraging player safety and public fear of safety. 

Many IPL venues are in cities experiencing enhanced security procedures. Under the circumstances, it can be considerably more difficult to make matchday plans and organize efficiently, and authorities may need to reconsider privileges or permissions to continue hosting games. Though the IPL has made adjustments to challenges, including a pandemic and a lack of venues, this new situation contains contributors where managing is less straightforward.
