Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) women's cricketer Shreyanka Patil posted a heartfelt message to Virat Kohli after his retirement from Test cricket, stating her great admiration and emotional attachment to the Indian cricket legend. Kohli, who retired from the longest version on Monday, May 12, has created an unfillable gap in the hearts of fans and fellow cricketers.
Kohli walks away as one of India's all-time great Test cricketers, having played 123 games and making 9,230 runs at 46.85. His red-ball career is adorned with 30 centuries, 31 half-centuries, and a top score of 254 not out. With his passion, aggression, and unparalleled intensity, Kohli not only set an era of Indian cricket but also influenced a generation of players and fans — Shreyanka among them.
Reacting to his retirement, Shreyanka took to Instagram to share her emotions. “It’s been 24 hours, and watching people post has made me even more emotional,” she wrote. “Not being able to watch Virat Kohli in whites again is something very hard to take. I’m surely going to miss all of this like crazy.” She praised his grit, attitude, and winning mentality, recalling his fierce celebrations, emotional reactions, and on-field leadership.

Shreyanka also depicted the way Kohli is dedicated to the team, particularly the way he supports the fast bowlers and the young players. "The manner in which he constructed the team and the manner in which he supported his players in every situation indicate how much he craves to win," she posted. She also depicted the way his cover drives, flicks, and aggressive gestures made the whole experience worthwhile. "Even miss his reaction after each dismissal — as if to ask, 'How the hell did that happen?'" she continued.
As much as Kohli's Test life is over, he will step back into play for RCB on May 17, as they take on Kolkata Knight Riders in the revived IPL 2025. He has scored 505 runs across 11 games this season alone and still hasn't run out of steam, proving why he still is one of cricket's greatest enduring stars.
