After the surprising snub, multiple theories have been popping out about the star batter. According to the latest reports, BCCI can even take away the captaincy from Gill. If that happens in actuality, then who will be the skipper for India's ODI team? Reports suggest that Shreyas Iyer is currently the front-runner to take over the role from Gill.
Team India play their next ODI series in early 2026 against New Zealand. The India vs New Zealand series, which is scheduled to start on January 11 with a 3-match ODI series. BCCI is yet to announce the squad for the 50-over series. It will be interesting to see whether Gill can remain as the skipper of the team.
