Shreyas Iyer again proved his individual excellence after Punjab Kings (PBKS) qualified for the IPL 2025 playoffs. Under Iyer's leadership, PBKS is the third team to place in the round of four.

Previously Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) were heavily influenced by the Indian batter, especially Knight Riders. The Purple Brigade achieved IPL glory last season with Shreyas as their Captain. Despite the success of the team, people had doubts over him as he was supported by Gautam Gambhir and Co.

Before the IPL 2025 mega auction, it was a bold decision from the middle-order batter to parted away with KKR. Punjab Kings took the opportunity and roped in the 30-year-old. As soon as PBKS notched a place in the playoffs, Iyer encrypted a record which never happened before in the history of the Indian Premier League— the first ever captain in the league's history to lead three different franchises to the playoffs.

Iyer and his boys showed rock solid mentality

Yesterday (May 18), Rajasthan Royals pushed Punjab Kings behind for a possible thrilling win with two well-oiled guns. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi were firing on all cylinders while chasing 219 , dealing only with 4s and 6s. Iyer subbed off after the first innings for a finger issue, then Shashank Singh was the stand-in skipper for the Punjab-based franchise.

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi rattled up 76 runs in just 4.5 overs for RR, then Harpreet Brar knocked both openers out. PBKS players proved their solid mentality during the tough situation and won the match by 10 runs. "The guys were in high spirits. We showed the mindset that we wanted to win irrespective of the situation. The body language tends to drop when opposition plays well. Brar is consistent in the nets. Today he stepped in and delivered. His mindset has been tremendous throughout. Absolutely brilliant approach and attitude", Iyer said after the match.
