Among all the superb shots in the evening during the second T20I of the five-match series between India and West Indies at the JSCA International Cricket Complex in Ranchi, the Indian captain Shreyas Iyer’s unbelievable six over the covers against the pacer went viral on social media platforms.
West Indies captain Shai Hope won the toss and decided to bowl first on a surface which looked flat for batting, besides the anticipated dew giving an advantage to the chasing side. The blue brigade went with an unchanged playing XI.

That was the first six of the evening for Iyer, who was fresh from his unbeaten maiden T20I century from the previous clash in Lucknow. On the second delivery of the 17th over of the innings, Romario Shepherd went with a wide yorker at the right-handed batter, who opened his wrists to slice it with the neatest of bat flows for an effortless six.

The ball went over the ropes for a massive shot as it went deep into the stands. That was followed by another six on the fifth ball of the same over of the innings, when he reached out for the low full toss and hit the sightscreen, despite not making a proper connection with the bat.
Iyer’s third six of the evening came on the very first ball of the 18th over of the innings. He took his front leg out and whacked it over the mid-wicket region before being dismissed on 40 runs off just 18 balls at a strike rate of 222.22, thanks to three boundaries and as many sixes.
India continue to show pure dominance with the bat in Ranchi T20I
India ended up with 249 runs for the loss of five wickets in their allotted 20 overs. The base was built on Sanju Samson’s superb knock of 82 runs off 41 balls at a strike rate of 200, thanks to nine boundaries and four sixes. Ishan Kishan nailed 43 runs off 22 balls at a strike rate of 195.45, thanks to six boundaries and a pair of sixes.
The 83-run stand off 32 balls between Shreyas and Tilak Varma (44* off 18 balls) fired them to the 249-run mark. Roston Chase returned with figures of 3/24 in four overs. Shamar Springer ended up with 2/64 in four overs.
