Shubman Gill to lead North Zone in Duleep Trophy 2025: Reports
The youngster’s tally is now second to only Sir Don Bradman’s 810 runs in the all-time list for most runs by a captain in a five-match Test series. It was an incredible performance from the Gujarat Titans’ batter of the IPL, who landed in the United Kingdom under so much pressure in the absence of two retired veterans, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.
In the opening clash, he smashed 147 runs in the first innings at Leeds in Headingley before drilling a quickfire 269 in the first innings of the second Edgbaston Test. He followed it up with a quickfire 161 in the second innings to help them level the series at 1-1.
After a quiet time at Lord’s, he returned to the fourth Test at Manchester with a gritty knock of 103 runs in 238 balls, which helped them secure a draw. The Duleep Trophy 2025 will give Gill a couple of more weeks to work on a few areas of his leadership.
