Saif Hassan emerged as one of the main protagonists behind the Bangladesh cricket team's thrilling win over their archrival. His stellar performance from the beginning of the run chase offered Bangladesh the slight edge they needed to win the match. During the second innings, Hassan sent a delivery from Nuwan Thushara into the stand using the wrists.
Batting first, Sri Lanka, who defeated Bangladesh in the group stage of the tournament, registered a competitive total of 168 on the scoreboard. Sri Lanka started the second innings by quickly taking the wicket of Tanzid Hasan. Hasan departed with a duck. After sustaining early damage, Bangladesh bounced back with the help of the partnership between Saif Hassan (61) and skipper Litton Das (23). They pulled out their team from the early setback. Later, Towhid Hridoy, who scored 58 off 37, joined Hasan and took Bangladesh closer to the target.

Saif Hassan dispatched Nuwan Thushara for a six:
Hassan played a match-winning 61-run against 45 balls. During this time, he smashed a couple of 4s and four 6s. One of the 6s he hit was against Sri Lankan sling pacer Thushara. Thushara delivered a full-length delivery on the pads of the right-handed opener of Bangladesh.
The on-song batter, who was on the line of the delivery, just used his wrists to flick the ball over the long-on for a huge over boundary. It was the batter's technique and balance that turned the decent ball into a maximum.
