"Sorry..."- Rishabh Pant reflects on India's 0-2 series defeat at home against South Africa
The stand-in captain for the Indian Test side, Rishabh Pant, has reflected on their 0-2 series defeat at home against South Africa as it became their second home Test series whitewash in the last three attempts.

Due to India’s regular captain Shubman Gill’s neck injury, which ruled him out of their second Test against South Africa at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati, the BCCI selected Rishabh Pant as the leader for the second clash. But the result remained the same as the hosts earned a 408-run defeat and ended with a 0-2 series defeat against the Proteas.
A day after the end of the Test series, Pant reflected on India's performance, by stating that they failed to live up to the expectation but would grow as a team and individuals in he future as sport would keep teaching new lessons every day.

“There is no shying away from the fact that we didn't play good enough cricket over the last two weeks. As a team and as individuals, we always want to perform at the highest level and bring smiles to billions of Indians. Sorry, we couldn't live up to expectations this time, but sport teaches you to learn, adapt, and grow - both as a team and as individuals.” Pant expressed in his post on social media.

Pant didn’t bat well across the two innings of the second Test, while he looked a bit defensive in patches with the captaincy hat. In the second innings of the first Kolkata Test, Pant went into a defensive leadership approach and opened the field as the Proteas collected several runs to put pressure on the hosts.
“Representing India is the greatest honour of our lives. We know what this team is capable of, and we will work hard, regroup, refocus, and reset to come back stronger and better as a team & individuals. Thank you for your unwavering support and love! Jai Hind.” The wicket-keeper batter informed in the same post.
With the end of the red-ball leg, the focus will now shift to the three-match white-ball series, which will begin on November 30 at the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) Sports Complex in Ranchi.
