Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) beat Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 33 runs in Match 49 of Indian Premier League 2026 on 6 May at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. SRH after this win moved to the top of the points table with 14 points, while PBKS endured their third consecutive loss.
Batting first, SRH scored a huge 235/4 in 20 overs. Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma gave a very fast start by adding 54 runs in just 3.3 overs. Head scored 38 runs off 19 balls, while Abhishek made 35 off 13 balls. After that, Ishan Kishan scored 55 runs off 32 balls and Heinrich Klaasen played another brilliant innings of 69 runs off 43 balls. In the final overs, Nitish Kumar Reddy added quick runs and stayed unbeaten on 29 off 13 balls. SRH batters hit 17 sixes in the innings and kept attacking throughout.
PBKS bowlers had a difficult day as they could not stop the runs. Marco Jansen and Arshdeep Singh conceded too many runs. PBKS also committed errors in the field by missing catching opportunities and a stumping attempt. Yuzvendra Chahal bowled a controlled spell, but he did not get enough support from the fielders.

SRH performed well while defending the total. With Pat Cummins and Shivang Kumar picked 2 wickets each for SRH, PBKS failed to maintain the required run rate and ended the innings 33 runs behind the target.
