Three Indian people were injured during the stampede-like situation that broke out in the Jharkhand T20 League 2026 final outside the JSCA International Cricket Stadium Complex in Ranchi, as it left several spectators injured and triggered panic among the massive crowd.

It was, however, a glorious evening in the field as the Chota Nagpur Royal completed the fine chase of 181 runs by seven wickets with 16 balls to spare, thanks to the two half-centuries from Kumar Kushagra and Himanshu Dwivedi.

The officials and the eyewitnesses have revealed that a large number of the fans gathered at the stadium for the final match, which led to severe overcrowding outside the entry gates. The situation got worse when the entry restrictions and slow security checks caused frustration among the fans, as some of them reportedly attempted to climb up the gates and barricades to enter the venue.

Upon understanding the condition, the police and security personnel rushed to the spot and brought the crowd under full control. More security was deployed as the spectators were allowed to enter the stadium. The Ranchi SSP, Rakesh Ranjan, expressed his views on the incident.

“Only one gate was open for public entry, which caused a sudden surge in the crowd. The slow pace of security frisking led to significant pressure from the public outside, and the crowd became unruly for a brief period. We stepped in and brought the situation under control.” Ranjan said.
