The West Indies white-ball captain, Hayley Matthews, has added their feather to the glorious cabinet after her incredible performance to beat Tazmin Bris and teammate Afy Fletcher to win June 2025’s ICC Women’s player of the month award. It’s her fourth title alongside November 2021, October 2023, and April 2024. She is now tied with Australia’s Ash Gardner for the most such titles.

She was a key member of the side that won the recent T20I series by 2-1 at home against the South African team. It’s an honour to receive the Player of the Month award again. It wasn’t a sweet start to the series for Matthews, who got just 19 runs in the bank. But she anchored in the second clash with a cracking unbeaten 63 runs before smashing 65 runs in the third fixture of the series. That led the Caribbean side’s fightback from a 0-1 deficit to win the series by a margin of 2-1.

Matthews wasn’t at her best in the ODI series and was hampered by a shoulder injury. That led her to undergo surgery. She still contributed in the series with scores of 40 and 56 with the bat and picking up four wickets at an average of 34.25 for the defeat of 2-1 in the series.

Overall, the right-handed batter has smashed 3074 WODI runs in 96 innings at an average of 33.78 and a strike rate of 76.41, thanks to nine centuries and eight half-centuries at the best score of 141. In the shortest format, she has clubbed 2975 runs at a strike rate of 115.53. Besides that, she has also picked up 238 wickets across formats.
