Urvil Patel smashed 31-ball century

The Gujarat captain and opener Urvil Patel, the CSK star who also holds the record for the fastest T20 century by an Indian with his 28-ball hundred in the SMAT 2024-25, smashed a 31-ball century to seal a comfortable win for his team Gujarat. Gujarat openers Aarya Desai and Urvil Patel had a 171-run partnership for the first wicket. While Desai scored 60 off 35 balls with six fours and three sixes, Patel smashed 119 not out off just 37 balls with 12 fours and 10 sixes.

Fastest centuries in SMAT history

  • Urvil Patel (Gujarat): 28 balls vs Tripura in Indore 2024

  • Abhishek Sharma (Punjab): 28 balls vs Meghalaya in Saurashtra 2024

  • Urvil Patel (Gujarat): 31 balls vs Services in Hyderabad 2025

  • Rishabh Pant (Delhi): 32 balls vs Himachal Pradesh in Delhi 2018

All these top four fastest centuries are also the top four fastest T20 centuries by the Indians.

The 27-year-old Urvil Patel made his IPL debut last season, as he served for the CSK. In three matches, he scored 68 runs with an average of 22.66 and a strike rate of 212.50, including his highest score of 37.

With his regular stormy batting, Urvil is also knocking on the national team door, especially in the T20I format, where we already have some powerful recognized batters.
