Star RCB player celebrates cracking century in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2025/26

The star player of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) from the Indian Premier League (IPL) has celebrated a cracking century during the 2025/26 season of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT).

The left-handed top-order batter of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Devdutt Padikkal, has smashed a fine century in just 45 balls for Karnataka against Tamil Nadu during the group-stage clash of the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2025/26 at the Narendra Modi Stadium B Ground in Ahmedabad. 

Devdutt Paddikal, who has notched up 3100 runs in 111 innings of the shortest format at an average of around 31 and a strike rate of more than 133 with the help of 19 half-centuries and three centuries at the best score of unbeaten 124 runs, has overall collected 1806 runs in 74 innings of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The Southpaw was in decent touch in the previous 2025 season of the league before getting injured, as he collected 247 runs in 10 innings at an average of 27.44 and a strike rate of 150.60, scoring two half-centuries at the best score of 61. Padikkal has sent a positive message to the Bengaluru franchise ahead of the 2026 season.

Opening the batting with Mayank Agarwal, Sharath BR put up a strong opening partnership of 69 runs. The former smashed 24 runs in just 15 balls at a strike rate of 160 with the help of four boundaries, while wicket-keeper Sharath claimed 53 runs in just 23 balls at a strike rate of 230.43, thanks to four boundaries and as many sixes.

Coming at number three, Padikkal pocketed a fine knock of 102 runs in just 56 balls at a strike rate of 221.73 with the help of 10 boundaries and six sixes. At number five, Ravichandran Smaran slammed an unbeaten knock of 46 runs in 29 balls with the help of three boundaries and as many sixes in a partnership of 115 runs in just 56 balls.

In reply to Karnataka’s 245 runs in the first innings, Tamil Nadu found themselves 67/3 in eight overs. Tushar Raheja got 29 runs in 18 balls. Vijaykumar Vyshak showed some fabulous bowling with a fine spell of 2/7 in the first two overs.
