Star Sri Lanka player misses ODI and T20I series against Zimbabwe
Sri Lanka are placed in Group B alongside Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Hong Kong in Asia Cup 2025.

Ace Sri Lanka spinner, Wanindu Hasaranga was not named in the ODI squad against Zimbabwe. The move came as the spinner was recovering from the hamstring injury. The T20I squad for the series was unveiled on August 29 and he was not named in the squad as he is still recovering from the injury. It would be interesting to see whether the veteran makes it to the Asia Cup 2025 in time or will miss the tournament for Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka are placed in Group B alongside Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Hong Kong. This time the tournament will be played in the T20 format with an aim to prepare for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026 which is scheduled to be played in India. Wanindu Hasaranga is a key aspect for Sri Lankan team and his absence will surely hamper Sri Lanka’s prospects in the upcoming Asia Cup 2025.
