Everyone was surprised when the news of the lower-order Indian batter, Rinku Singh, and politician Priya Saroj’s engagement news broke. The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batter hasn’t been public with anyone since the start of his career in the IPL, as the announcement came as a shock to the followers of the game.
During the recent interaction, the left-handed batter revealed the story of their first connection after he spotted Priya Saroj’s pictures on a fan page. He hesitated at first and was unsure of messaging her on Instagram. But when Priya liked his photos, that was when he gathered confidence and began their conversations.
“I saw her photo on a fan page about some voting in her village. I thought she was perfect for me, but I was unsure about texting her at first. When she liked a couple of my photos, I finally messaged her, and that’s how it began. Soon, we were talking regularly, even before matches. That’s when I started feeling the love in 2022.” Rinku Singh expressed during a recent interview.

The couple got engaged in June and planned to marry in November, which has now been postponed due to the batter’s commitment towards the upcoming domestic and international season after coming off playing for the national side in the Asia Cup 2025, which is going to begin from September 09 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Rinku also addressed how Priya’s election as a member of the Parliament last year has changed their schedule. “There has been no change in how we feel about each other, but earlier we used to speak a lot. Now, she spends her days working in villages, meeting people, and attending Parliament. We mostly get to talk at night.” The southpaw shed light.
