Watch: Steve Smith reflects upon PSL debut and his Olympic ambition
Australian cricketer Steven Smith is enjoying his first PSL season, while he is eyeing the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

The 36-year-old Australian cricketer Steven Smith is enjoying his time with cricket, as he has experienced some special things recently. Recently, he opened up about his experience in his first Pakistan Super League (PSL) season. Smith also spoke about the upcoming Summer Olympics, where cricket is set to return.
Steven Smith has been going through some special periods recently. After a successful home Ashes series (2025-26), he missed the original Aussie squad for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 but was later called up as an injury replacement. However, as the Aussies were eliminated from the group stage, Smith didn't get an opportunity in that tournament.
In the meantime, while Smith remained unsold for the IPL 2026, PSL side Multan Sultans (known as Sialkot Stallionz before rebranding) signed him directly for the record valuation in league history, PKR 14 crore (approx. USD 500,000). Smith is now enjoying his first PSL season, which Pakistan is hosting in two venues without any fans in the stadium.

Smith shares first-ever PSL experience after joining new franchise
Smith has clarified that he is really enjoying his first season in the PSL. While the crowd-less season is unfortunate, he is sure that the fans are supporting the team and the tournament from home through the TV. While the Aussie legend has already enjoyed the first couple of weeks of the tournament, he is ready to continue his journey in the competition.
Smith is the third leading run-scorer for the second-placed Multan Sultans in PSL 2026, as the right-handed batter has scored 144 runs in five innings with an average of 28.80 and a strike-rate of 154.83, including one half-century. His scores in the ongoing PSL season are 31, 46, 9, 53, and 5 runs, respectively.
Veteran targets 2028 Los Angeles Olympics as future ambition
In the same discussion session, Smith added that his main motivation now is to experience the upcoming Summer Olympics. In the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, cricket is returning after 128 years, as Smith is excited to represent Australia. It is not a new story, as Smith has already revealed it many times, and once again the Aussie legend has just reminded his goal status. He is now working on his game to hit further to make himself a better power-hitter for the format.
