“Strong against…”- Varun Chakravarthy points out Pakistan's advantage vs India in T20 WC 2026
The leg spinner of the Indian cricket team, Varun Chakravarthy, has talked about the advantage of the Pakistan ahad of their clash in the T20 World Cup 2026 on February 15 in Colombo.

India’s premier spinner, Varun Chakravarthy, has put up an exceptional performance in the first couple of games of the T20 World Cup 2026 against the United States of America and Namibia in Mumbai and Delhi, respectively. With two successive wins, India will now have their eyes on their next clash against Pakistan on February 15 at the R. Premadasa Cricket Stadium in Colombo.
Ahead of the mouth-watering yet controversial contest, Varun Chakravarthy has felt that the Salman Agha-led side would have an advantage in the process as they had been playing in Sri Lanka for the last couple of weeks, including the practice games, which will help them understand the conditions.
“Obviously, every game in the World Cup is very important. We are excited for it, and it will be a fun challenge. We are also strong against spin and have a good spin attack. I feel we have the edge over them. Although they are playing in similar conditions back to back and might have an advantage in that regard, I believe that as a group we have had the better of them and are well prepared.” Chakravarthy expressed after the end of the game.
Varun Chakravarthy gives update on Abhishek Sharma in T20 WC 2026
The other concern for the Indian side, heading into the fixture against Pakistan, will be the fitness of their aggressive left-handed opening batter, Abhishek Sharma, who missed the second game against Namibia due to a stomach infection. Chakravarthy claimed that Abhishek should return to the eleven for the Pakistan game.
“I think he will play the next match. I don't know. As far as I have spoken to him, he looks good. He did some practice today. He said he is on the way.” Varun addressed in the post-match interview.
The Tamil Nadu spinner has been excellent with the ball in this T20 WC 2024, especially with 3/7 in two overs against Namibia at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, where it was a flat surface with India scoring over 200 runs and the opposition making a strong start with the bat in the chase.
