Suryakumar Yadav, in a tricky phase of his career, after being removed as the leader of India’s T20I side and dropped from the squad for the upcoming seven games of the shortest format against Ireland and England, could try to explore a new journey towards the fag end of his career, as his exit from the Mumbai Indians (MI) has triggered rumours.

Ahead of the mega auction for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2027, Sky could take a new path to be part of a different franchise. While making a comeback to the national side could be a massive task, Suryakumar’s time at MI might also have come to an end.

On the morning of June 08, the fans struggled to spot a single picture of the Mumbai Indians on Suryakumar Yadav’s Instagram profile. The right-handed batter has also unfollowed the franchise, which has triggered intense speculation over a potential exit from the franchise.

He has been with the five-time champions since 2018, as he made his way from the Kolkata Knight Riders. Over the years, he became a vital member of the batting department and the overall success of the franchise in the IPL.

SKY is the second leading run-getter of the franchise in IPL history, having collected 4020 runs in 125 innings at an average of 36.54 and a blistering strike rate of 151.24 with the help of two centuries and 30 half-centuries at the best score of unbeaten 103 runs.

Suryakumar’s best season with the bat in an IPL season came in 2025 when he smashed 717 runs in 16 innings at a strike rate of around 168 with five half-centuries. In 2026, he collected only 270 runs in 13 innings at an average of 20.76, thanks to two fifties at the best score of 60.
