Suryakumar Yadav-led India are defending title
India and Sri Lanka are ready to jointly host the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026, which will run between February 7 and March 8, 2026. A total of 20 teams are ready to participate in the tournament.
Suryakumar Yadav-led India are not only hosting the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026, along with Sri Lanka, but the Men in Blues will also defend the title. If India manage to win the tournament, they will create three following histories:
- 1st team to win the ICC Men's T20 World Cup three times
- 1st team to win the ICC Men's T20 World Cup as the hosts.
- 1st team to defend the ICC Men's T20 World Cup title.
India are in Group A of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 along with Pakistan, the Netherlands, Namibia, and the United States. Only two teams will advance to the Super Eight stage from each group.
In the last two ICC tournaments (ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 and ICC Champions Trophy 2025), India won the titles without losing a match, as they had only one no result along with wins in all other fixtures. If we add the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023, which India hosted, India lost only one match, which was the Final of the 2023 CWC against Australia.
